I’m already burnt out on social networking, this seems like a waste of time.

  • ReelPost combines the fun of Facebook with the power of LinkedIn. You get entertainment value, usually by keeping up with your colleagues and friends. But all the while, making good use of your time by letting your presence known to those who you will be potentially collaborating with. When it comes time for you or someone you know to put a team together or hire a freelancer, the connections are already there.

Am I going to find a job through this?

  • Quite possibly. ReelPost is a community based site first and has no job board. However, what we do have is the ReelSearch© tool which is a completely new concept. You can consider it the exact opposite of a job board. Instead of an employer listing a job, they can now search our database and narrow down job candidates to a select few and send out invites directly to them. So instead of looking for work, the work looks for you.

Should I blog? What should I write about?

  • Yes! If you ever wondered; what can I do to stand out from the crowd? Well, this is a great way. You, your profile and portfolio will get much more exposure. Both from within this site and even from the rest of the web. The more traffic you get, the more the search engines will find you. This is a great way to prime the pump.
  • What you should write should be influenced by your unique perspective on work and the business in general. News, gossip, insight, tech tips and even a synopsis of already known events all work great. What doesn’t work are statements such as “Looking for work” or “Staring a new project at…”. Those comments should be placed as status updates (located on your profile and the home page). That way they end up on the news feed and that’s where they will work for you best.

What should I register as? What’s the difference?

  • If you have a craft, then you are “Talent”. That goes for editors, producers, narrators, etc.
  • If you have a craft and also work out of a home studio or otherwise bid on projects directly, the you are “Talent/Studio”
  • If you work for a studio in a management capacity, then the obvious choice here is “Management”
  • If you own or represent a studio and are using ReelPost as a recruitment or marketing tool, then “Studio” is your option.

I don’t have a demo reel ready, can I still register?

  • Absolutely. Posting a demo reel is just one part of the process. It’s not the first nor the last. Start building your presence in the ReelPost community now. As your reel or anything else that you’d like to add to your portfolio becomes available, add it.

How are activity points scored and what are they used for?

  • Activity points are gained by logging in, posting comments, uploading videos and generally using the site.
  • A higher score will rank you higher in search results, which will likely lead to more job offers.
